Sally K. Ride

It is quite obvious that women play a key role in the expansion of scientific knowledge.  One woman that did a very good job in this is Sally K. Ride.  Sally was an astronaut and astrophysicist.  She became an astronaut in 1979 where she helped work on the robotic arm.  She is most well known for being the first woman in space.  After her work at NASA she was a professor of physics.  Sally Ride is very obviously proof that women are help the ethe expansion of scientif knowledge.

My Fav Scientist

When it comes to science, obviously I think Mrs. Fowler.  Her carrer as a scientist has helped to evolve the world's understanding for modern day science by teaching the children the fundamentals of basic chemistry.  By doing this she almost makes, on average, fifteen well produced scientist per class that will go into the world with all the chemistry they need to make this world better.  I admire Mrs. Fowler because of her ability to overcome the loud talkers in all the classes and still strive to teach the children the material to make this world better.

My 2 goals

As a Chemistry student, I find it necessary to set goals to increase the ability of my learning experience.  I obviously have many goals that would be proper and accepted but I would like to go above and beyond and set goal that will produce results that will stick with me forever.  The first skill that comes in my mind when thinking about goals that will help me not only in high-school, but also in College and my life after that is note taking.  Note taking is key because all you have to do is jot down some important facts and then you have a basis for your understanding of the main topic.  My second goal that i think will help me succeed in life is talking to my teacher.  In school if I need help I always have teachers there watching out for me and as a employee of a company I feel that learning how to get help if I need it now then I will not struggle with it later.

Atomic Timeline Reflection

1.  Why is this exhibit a good choice for placement in your e-portfolio?
I believe that the Atomic Timeline is a good chice to reflect on because it is the one exibit that I feel most proud of.  I am proud because of the effoert I put into to it and the reward I got from my work.  I feel that my grade reflected the time and effort that I put into the Timeline along with my partners, Cole and Jacob.

2.  What did you find most interesting about this exhibit activity and why?
I found many things very interesting about this activity, but primarly I found that the knoledge I got from this exibit qwas the greatest.  I really enjoyed learning about the different people because I can see how Chemistry developed and who contributed to that.  Also I loved learning how they use their little resourses to develop such complex ideas, like Rutheford.

3.  In what way(s) did you find this exhibit a challenge to complete?
I found many challenges through out the development of the process, but mainly the time management. My partnetrs and I realized that we had only two days until the project was due and we had not even started.  This obviously proved as a challenge because we had to rush through the information and design.  However, we did finish and had an apprpriate amount of informationa and a slick design scheme.

4.  If you were to do this activity again what changes would you make and why?
If I were to do this project again, I would have included the distribution of work with my partners.  I found that each of us worked to much on one certain aspect, when we should have equal disributed the work load on each individual aspect of the project.

5.  What change(s) in attitude or behavior helped you to meet the challenge?
The challenge help my additude because now I realize that time managment is very important.  This is true for not only chemistry, but also any other saspect of my life.  Chemistry has helped me vitally to help me become a strongger person through project designed to make you be your best student.

6.  What grade would you give yourself for these reflections, from “1” to “4”, where “4” is the best? (Refer to the E-Portfolio Reflection Rubric.)Give specific evidence explaining why you gave yourself that grade.
Honestly if I were to grade my relection on my atomic timeline, I would give myself a four.  I feel this way because all answers, answer the question asked and are clear with specific reasoning behind them.  I believe that all answers have the requirement that were asked inside of them.

If I was an element...

I think it is quite clear that elements are one of a kind, just like people.  If i was an element I think I would most definantly be Jackium.  Jackium would be directly affected by the weather.  In the summer when temperatures are high Jackium would have a tan color and in the winter when the temperature is cold, Jackium would have a white, pale tone to it.  Also, due to the fact that I am very chill, Jackium would not react to many things.  This is how Jack's elemnt would be Jackium.

What I have learned about myself through Chemistry

In this year, I have learned that I need to take better notes by not copying ever word.  I can do this by focusing on the key points when Mrs. Fowler is talking.  Also, if I need help i will go and see Mrs. Fowler for addidional help.  I will especially go in before a test if i need help.  I know that she can help me if help is needed.  Finally if I am assigned a project or any assignment i will finsh it on time and do my best to get a good grade.
